The Irons Brothers put on a great display in semi number two to make the final. Both were locking inot some serious tube time as the lead swapped and changed throughout the heat and both will be champing at the bit to to take the Rip Curl Pro Pipeline Masters in front of the massive crowd of locals. The final, featuring Brothers Irons plus Mick Fanning and local hotshot Kalani Chapman should be a cracker so don’t go away! It will be coming up right after the Foster’s Espression Session. Semi two also signified the end of two fantastic pro surfing careers with both Sunny Garcia and Luke Egan retiring from today. And there’s no better way to go out than after making the semi finals at the most prestigious event on the Foster’s ASP Men’s World Tour. On returning to the beack after the semi the two embraced and payed tribute to that fact that they had been mates now for over 20 years. Both competed against each other as juniors and followed right through to surfing their final heat together today. The crowd was full of appreciation cheering loudly as the two walked up the beach. A great send off for two of the sport’s definite legends. |
