A BIT ABOUT
Wayne “Rabbit” Bartholomew has lived a life most only dream of. A true “rags-to-riches” story, Rabbit grew up around the fabled pointbreaks of Australia’s Gold Coast with legends Michael “MP” Peterson and Peter “PT” Townend as sparring partners. His revolutionary approach to tube-riding, cultivated at the world-famous Kirra Point and later applied in Hawaii’s big surf, garnered him the world title in 1978. Since then, the former world champion has gone from event organizer to President of the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP). The lightning-quick natural-footer hasn’t lost a step since ’78, regularly putting in inspirational performances all over the world and taking out the ASP World Master’s Championships in 2001. At 52-years young, no one may be more excited that the ASP World Masters Championships is back than Bugs.
