KINGSCLIFF, Australia (Saturday, April 26, 2008) - Noosa’s Josh Constable and Harley Ingleby qualify for Sunday’s Surftech Mens Professional (WLQS) Final.

Dalmeny Point Ray Lawrence (South Batemans Bay, NSW) qualifies for Surftech Mens Professional (WLQS) Final.

Chelsea Williams top scorer in Surftech Womens Professional (WLQS) semi’s and now the favourite to defend her title.

The beautiful fine and sunny weather continued at Kingscliff in front of the Cudgen Surf Club for Day 4 which is the second last day of competition before Sunday (tomorrow) finals. Offshore surfing conditions throughout the morning on 1 metre south east swell started to deteriorate in the afternoon due to a light onshore north east sea breeze, but the waves staying quite contestable and high scores achievable.

In the high profile Surftech Mens Professional (WLQS) Coffs Harbour’s Harley Ingleby set the pace in the first semi final with an 8.17 point ride while his Noosa rival Josh Constable stuck to his consistent wave plan with a 7 point ride on his first wave and quickly backed that up with a 7.83 to hold the lead while Ingleby sat patiently waiting for his second wave.

Meanwhile, Tweed Coast’s Heath Norrish was sitting in second position but in the dying minute of an intense semi final battle, Ingleby who was sitting in third place needed a 4.5 to overtake Norrish for second and Ingleby managed to stroke into a buzzer wave and scoring 5.53 to claim second right at the end of the heat and eliminating Norrish in third position and out of the competition.

In Semifinal 2 of the Surftech Mens Professional (WLQS) event was another boil over by the Danger Man from Dameny Point Ray Lawrence (South Batemans Bay) who has been something of a dark horse in this event winning both his quarter and semi final heats from fellow NSW State Teams rider Dane Pioli, the defending champion of the Hyundai Malfunction Surfing Festival.

Jared Neale (Sapphire Beach, Coffs Harbour) struggled to find his earlier good form bowing out in third and a disappointing fourth for Seb Wilson (Noosa), both out of the competition. Pioli had to settle for second position again in the semi’s when Lawrence top scored with an 8.33, which was the second highest score in the mens semi’s and therefore both advancing through to the finals. Lawrence the Giant Killer of the event has qualified for his first ever ASP Professionally rated Open Mens Longboard Final.
