Lay Day for ASP WQS 5-Star Volcom Pipe Pro
PIPELINE, Oahu/Hawaii (Saturday, January 23, 2010) – Small surf of 1-3 feet on Oahu’s North Shore has resulted in a lay day for the $120,000 Volcom Pipeline Pro today. Organizers have an eye on tomorrow morning for a potential start to this ASP Hawaii World Qualifying Series (WQS) 5-star event, with the fore of an 8-foot swell out of the north-west in the next 24 hours.
When the event gets underway, it will be red-hot action from the outset. Rob Machado (Ca., USA), Ry Craike (AUS), Mark Healey (HAW), and Takayuki Wakita (JPN) scheduled to hit the waves on the opening day of competition.
This is Volcom’s first ever ASP event and is a critical component of the 2010 ASP Hawaii season, offering valuable points towards World Tour qualification, as well as wildcard berths into the December Pipeline Masters.
Volcom has always been dedicated to Hawaii – from supporting a team of world-class Hawaiian athletes and ambassadors, to giving back to the community through local charitable events, sponsorships and organizations. The Volcom Pipeline Pro is Volcom’s next step in their commitment to Hawaii. Join them on the beach, via live web, live in Hawaii on Oceanic cable 250 or 1250, and live on television during the finals throughout America, Australia and Portugal on FUEL TV.
