BOCA BARRANCA, Puntarenas/Costa Rica (Friday, April 9, 2010) – After monitoring conditions throughout the day at the Costa Rican pointbreak of Boca Barranca, event officials at the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) Longboard Qualifying Series (LQS) 3-Star Costa Rica PLA Pro were forced to call competition off with only small, disorganized one foot (.5 metre) surf on offer.

“We tried to wait for conditions to clean up throughout the day, but we’re going to hold off on competition until tomorrow,” Tim Marshall, Costa Rica PLA Pro Head Judge, said. “We’re hoping for a new swell to arrive in the morning, so hopefully conditions will improve overnight.”

With only two days remaining in the waiting period and the majority of the event left to complete, Costa Rica PLA Pro competition will at 6am tomorrow morning.

Top competitors hitting the water at the Costa Rica PLA Pro will be former ASP World Longboard Champion Josh Constable (AUS) and ASP World Longboard Tour standout Taylor Jensen (Oceanside, CA), 26, while reigning two-time ASP Women’s World Longboard Champion Jen Smith (San Diego, CA), 24, will lead the women as the event’s top seed.
