TSB Bank Women's Surf Festival Round 3 ON at Fitzroy Beach
FITZROY, Taranaki/New Zealand (Thursday, April 15, 2010) – Clean three-to-five foot (1 – 1.5 metre) waves are steaming through at the primary site of Fitzroy Beach today, prompting event organizers to call Round 3 of the TSB Bank Women’s Surf Festival, commencing at 8am.
Event No. 3 on the 2010 ASP Women’s World Tour, the TSB Bank Surf Festival completed the opening two rounds of competition on Tuesday at a remote location along Surf Highway 45, but today’s increase in swell will see the world’s best female surfers on at Fitzroy Beach.
“We’re excited to see bigger surf on offer this morning and we’ll be getting Round 3 underway at 8am,” Dave Shipley, ASP Head Judge, said. “We’ll monitor the conditions closely, but we are hoping to complete all of Round 3 today, setting up a finish tomorrow.”
Up first this morning will be Melanie Bartels (HAW), 27, against Bruna Schmitz (BRA), 20, in Heat 1 of Round 3.
The TSB Bank Women’s Surf Festival will be web LIVE via www.nzsurffestival.co.nz
