Billabong Pro Santa Catarina Round 1 ON at Praia da Vila
PRAIA DA VILA, Santa Catarina/Brazil (Saturday, April 24, 2010) – Round 1 of the Billabong Pro Santa Catarina will commence at 9:15am this morning in punchy two-to-three foot (1 metre) peaks at the primary site of Praia da Vila.
Stop No. 3 of 10 on the 2010 ASP World Tour, the Billabong Pro Santa Catarina will look to complete a full day of competition today as the world’s best surfers unleash in the playful beachbreaks of Imbituba.
“The big southerly wind from yesterday has backed off and we’re projecting the swell to increase throughout the day,” Richie Porta, ASP International Head Judge, said. “We’ll competition at 8:45am and look to complete Round 1 by day’s end.”
Up first this morning will be Fredrick Patacchia (HAW), 28, Jeremy Flores (FRA), 22, and Adam Melling (AUS), 24, in Heat 1 of Round 1.
