Carissa Gives Moore in New Zealand
WAITARA, Taranaki/New Zealand (Thursday, May 20, 2010) – For those of us that have been living under rocks for the past several weeks, 2010 ASP Women’s World Tour rookie Carissa Moore (HAW), 17, claimed her inaugural elite tour victory at the TSB Bank Women’s Surf Festival in pumping four-foot lefthanders. The hundreds on the beach were treated to an even bigger showing when the young natural-footer quietly announced that she would be dedicated all of her prize money to the local Waitara Bar Boardriders Club, an unprecedented gesture of giving within the surfing world. Stuff.co.nz recently followed up with the WBB Club to see how they dispersing the finances.
Waitara surfers are looking forward to a prosperous three years thanks to the little young lady from Hawaii.
The Waitara Bar Board Riders Club hosted teenage surfing sensation Carissa Moore during the ASP women’s Dream Tour surfing event in April, and at her moment of triumph the 17-year-old stunned surfing fans by announcing her entire winning purse of $21,000 would go to the club.
