CAPBRETON, France (Tuesday, June 29, 2010) - The Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) Europe will be sanctioning its first Regional Specialty Event with the 6.0 Cash For Tricks this summer, a series of four events taking place in Europe and bringing a new, fresh and progressive format of competition to its calendar.

Aiming at pushing the boundaries of progressive surfing by gathering a pool of both ASP professional athletes and local rising talents, the 6.0 Cash for Tricks events will see an explosion of flying maneuvers and spectacular surfing, with incredible every trick being rewarded with cash.

From Seignosse (July 2 to 5) in France to Zarautz (Aug. 31 to Sep. 5) in the Basque Country, including Anglet (Aug. 9 to 12) and Lacanau (Aug. 17 to 22), the 6.0 Cash for Tricks concept will see ASP European stars such as former ASP Dream Tour member Tim Boal (Anglet, FRA) take on the best rising talents for an explosive cocktail of “new school surfing”.

“It’s great to have the opportunity to compete in a new kind of event,” Boal said. “The commitment of Nike 6.0 in bringing a new format is great for the tour and gives variety to the already solid ASP Star and Prime events’ tour in Europe. The combination of both will make it even more exciting.”

In a beach party atmosphere at France and Spain’s popular beaches of Seignosse, Anglet, Lacanau and Zarautz, the 6.0 Cash For Tricks will bring together world-class surfing with a relaxed nonetheless exciting approach as the battle between ASP athletes and local stars take place.

“It is very exciting to see the world’s sports’ brand leader join surfing in Europe,” ASP Europe Regional manager Greg Puget said. “With its specific format and the attendance of both professional athletes and up-and-coming local talents, the 6.0 Cash for Tricks events is an added-value to the action-packed ASP European Star and Prime events.”

Offering an overall prize purse of $40.000, the 6.0 Cash for Tricks will reward the most creative and progressive surfers, the 60-man competition format allowing a short-running time for a non-stop action display.

Invited by Nike 6.0 and having already confirmed their attendance are European leaders Tim Boal, Patrick Beven (FRA), and Marlon Lipke (DEU), joined by renowned progressive surfers Romain Laulhe (FRA), Borja Agote (EUK), Frederico Morais (PRT), Tom Cloarec (FRA) or Andre Silva (BRA). With a list of sixty invitees to be put-up before the first event kicks-off in July, the show is guaranteed to be exceptional.
