ASP 4-Star Supersurf International Starts at Sao Sebastiao, Brazil
SAO SEBASTIAO, Sao Paulo/Brazil (Tuesday, June 29, 2010) - Excellent conditions were on today for the start of the contest. All Round 1, plus eight heats of the Round of 64 were run today.
For 10 years in a row, the ASP 4-Star Supersurf International has decided the Brazilian Surfing Champion. This year, the four Supersurf events scheduled will be part of the ASP World Tour.
Martin Passeri (ARG) was the happiest guy on the beach after defeating two Brazilians on the first heat of the event and one more in the round of 64.
“I was pretty nervous in the first heat, just couldn’t find the best waves, but I focused in winning the heat against young Ricardo dos Santos, who is surfing great. On the second heat I was more relaxed and everything worked well. I’m very happy and ready to keep the pace,” said Martin Passeri.
Ricardo dos Santos (BRA), was a little bit disappointed by his performance on the first round, so he went for the second round with a vengeance to set the highest score of the day and the best combined score as well, Ricardinho posted a 8.5 to secure the heat and a two wave total of 14.84 out of a possible 20.
“I felt pretty bad after Farol de Santa Marta’s loss, so I tried not to think of it. The idea was to get concentrated on doing big turns here which is the key to win,” said Ricardo. “I’m really focusing in my goal which is to win my first ASP event.”
