SAO SEBASTIAO, San Miguel/Brazil (Wednesday, June 30, 2010) - Another day in paradise, with the sun shining, blue skies and nice waves the competition restarted today. Eight heats were run finishing the Round of 64 at the ASP 4-Star Supersurf International.
The highlight of today’s competition came from Igor Morais, who posted a wealthy 9.17 ride.
“There’s some waves, but it’s very hard to find them, so stay calm is mandatory. I was lucky, everything went right on that wave,” said Igor Morais, stoked commenting his wave, the highest score on the first two days of the SuperSurf International.
“Man, was a set wave, I took off and the first turn was just a set up, them the wall became very steep and I carved very hard, the third turn was almost as good with my surfboard going side-slip, then I finished with a perfect close out reentry.”
Surfer Marco Aurelio came to Maresias Beach with a goal in mind keep his lead on 2010 SuperSurf Internacional. He jumped into the lead after winning the first ASP World Star event held at Itamambuca Beach, Ubatuba, Sao Paulo.
Today the two top seeds of the event showed up, Wiggolly Dantas the current World No. 21 won his first match, meanwhile Rodrigo Dornelles ASP World No. 45 ended up defeated on the last heat of the day.
“There’s good waves coming through, but it’s hard to find the right ones. It just doesn’t break at the same spot, and you find yourself paddling a lot,” said Wiggolly Dantas, who’s among the exclusive list of 10 surfers moving up to the World Tour. “I like Maresias a lot, the vibe is great, and I feel like home here, so I came down to enjoy it and train for the contests to come.”
