Yujiro Tsuji Is Crowned 2010 Murasaki Pro Kitaisumi Winner
KITAIZUMI BEACH, Fukushima/Japan (Sunday, August 22, 2010) - Final day today for day5 MURASAKI PRO KITAIZUMI went into action 7:30 following 7:00 first call at Kitaizumi Beach in Fukushima.
The local weather this morning at Fukushima was fair again today with waves in the 1 to 3 feet (1 meter) range with light winds creating fair conditions for final day.
This morning at 7:00 ASP Japan Tour Manager Masao Ogawa called the surfers from all 6 divisions and has called officially that today would be the final day. Ogawa first sent the semi finals of star event first inaction this morning commencing 7:30.
Action followed with LQS semi finals, Star event grand finals, LQS finals, pro junior semi finals, girls finals, Pro junior finals, cadets semi finals, women’s LQS finals and finally the cadets finals.
The star event grand final was a match up of event no.1 seeded surfer Yujiro Tsuji vs. defending ASP Japan Tour WQS grand champion Teppei Tajima. Tsuji goes straight in action in the early minutes of the final to score an excellent 8.75 as well as a 7.25 to make a total of 16.00 early in the finals before the conditions deteriorated. With 3 minutes left Tajima scores an excellent 8.00 and need a score of 8.01 to take over. Tajima holds on to priority but the wave he was waiting for didn’t come and Yujiro Tsuji is crowed 2010 champion over Tajima.
Men’s LQS finals was a match up of domestic champion Genki Kino vs. world ranking 2nd Kai Sallas (HAW). Sallas as well as Tsuji of the star event peaks at the grand finals and scores two excellent scores of 8.75 and 8.25 to make a total of 17.00. Kino holds on to a 7.00 and 6.25 and chases a perfect 10 to take over. This did not occur and Sallas was crowned 2010 event champion.
At the women’s LQS event Hiroka Yoshikawa earned her first ASP win at Fukushima. For the cadets Hiroto Ohara wins 2 straight wins here at Fukushima following last event in Hiratsuka.
Minato Takahashi earns her first ASP win at Fukushima for the girls division. Kento Takahashi wins his first win for 2010 and his last win since this was his last appearance as junior in ASP Japan for 2010.
5 surfers of the current ASP Japan Pro Junior Series ranking top 6 are featured in the semi finals. A detailed report concerning the WJT qualify is coming up.
