ASP World Tour rookie Jordy Smith (Durban, South Africa) (pictured) earned his place in Round 4 of the Boost Mobile Pro today when he trounced American surfer Chris Ward (USA) this morning.
Posting an impressive 17.27 (out of a possible 20.00) Smith sailed home with two excellent scoring rides, an 8.00 and a 9.27 (both out of ten) and will meet Taj Burrow (Aus) in the next round.
The Boost Mobile Pro pres. Hurley is the seventh stop on the ASP World Tour and includes the worldâs top 45 full-time touring male professional surfers plus three wildcards. The event has a seven day waiting period but requires only four full days of competition to be completed. Eight times ASP World Champion Kelly Slater (Florida, USA) leads the ASP World Tour ratings going into the event.
