[ 0 ] October 8, 2010 |

ARPOADOR BEACH, Rio de Janeiro/Brazil (Thursday, October 07, 2010) – The Southwest wind has eased up but once again Praia do Arpoador dawned without any waves on this Thursday. The top seeded surfers will have to wait a little bit more to start competing at Oakley presents Rio Surf Pro International.

The contest was once again postponed, now for 7 am of Friday in the Rio de Janeiro. The “day off” was called on the first call of the day at 8 am.

“Gee, there’s no waves today, it is even worse than yesterday, so we don’t even have to think twice, just call another day off”, agreed Igor Morais, who was in the first heat of the second round, along with Neco Padaratz, Dennis Tihara and Ulisses Meira. “We must wait for the predicted swell to come”,

With two days without competition, the Oakley presents Rio Surf Pro International can even have its format changed in order to finish the contest on Sunday. The man on man heats which were initially scheduled to begin in the Round of 16 surfers can start only on the quarter finals.

Moreover, the heat time can also be down from 25 to 20 minutes for extra time. Only the first round was held on Tuesday and 96 surfers are waiting for the restart of the event to compete in Arpoador.
