MIDDLES, Puerto Rico (Saturday, October 30, 2010) – The Rip Curl Pro Search Puerto Rico has been called ON this morning with Round 1 commencing in three-to-four foot (1.5 metre) waves at the primary site of Middles at 7:30am.

Event No. 9 of 10 on the 2010 ASP World Tour, the Rip Curl Pro Search Puerto Rico has captured the attention of the international sporting world as it will potentially host Kelly Slater (USA), 38, clinching an historic 10th ASP World Title.

“We have punchy three-to-four foot (1.5 metre) waves on offer this morning at the primary site of Middles and we’ll be getting underway at 7:30am,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge, said. “We’ll be running Round 1 of the men followed by Round 1 of the women, with Round 2 of the women on standby.”

Up first this morning will be Adrian Buchan (AUS), 28, Kieren Perrow (AUS), 33, and Travis Logie (ZAF), 31, in the opening heat of Round 1.

Surfline, official forecaster for the Rip Curl Pro Puerto Rico, are calling for plenty of NE/ENE trade swell expected for Puerto Rico today. The surf is projected to come down a notch or two tomorrow but fun size surf is expected to continue then. NW/NNW becoming N swell mixes in with the lingering trade swell Monday into Tuesday of next week.
