Second Consecutive Lay Day for O’Neill Women’s World Cup

SUNSET BEACH, Oahu/Hawaii (Saturday, November 27, 2010) – With only small one-to-two foot (.5 metre) surf on offer at Sunset Beach, event organizers were forced to call O’Neill Women’s World Cup competition off for a second consecutive day.

Stop No. 8 of 8 on the ASP Women’s World Tour, the O’Neill Women’s World Cup also marks the second jewel of the Vans Triple Crown and with the ASP Women’s World Title having been decided in Puerto Rico, the finest female surfers will battle for the Vans Triple Crown title and the vital ratings points on offer towards requalification for a place among the elite for 2011.

“We’ve got extremely small surf this morning and unfortunately will have to call competition off again today,” Randy Rarick, Vans Triple Crown Executive Director said. “It doesn’t look like there will be much swell on offer over the next few days, but we will still return tomorrow morning to check conditions.”

Surfline, official forecasters for the Vans Triple Crown are expecting small-scale surf to prevail throughout the remainder of the weekend and into early next week, but are monitoring a promising swell to fill in on Wednesday.

The O’Neill Women’s World Cup, which runs in conjunction with the ASP PRIME O’Neill World Cup of Surfing holds a waiting period from November 24 through December 6, 2010 and is webcast LIVE via http://www.triplecrownofsurfing.com/oneillworldcup/
