TORQUAY, Victoria/Australia (Wednesday, January 5, 2011) – Dimity Stoyle is the first Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) event winner for the 2011 season after winning the Evo Pro Junior in windswept and difficult small 0.5m (2 feet) waves at Jan Juc Beach today.

“What a start to my final year as a Pro Junior” said Doyle after the win.

“I’ve had a terrible preparation really after cutting my foot in Hawaii and being out of the water for much of the past two months but I’m back and feeling great and to win the opening event is perfect – I want to win the series desperately and this is the start I was after”

“The waves were difficult but I’m familiar with windy small waves – we get a lot of this on the Sunny Coast and my boards are well tuned to these conditions!”

Stoyle demolished her three opponents in today’s final opening with an excellent 8.5 ride, backing it up shortly after with a strong 7.5 point ride to hold a massive lead over her rivals.

Final scores saw Doyle on 16.00 out of a possible 20 to Newcastle NSW surfer Philippa Anderson on 14.20. Ellie-Jean Coffey (NSW) and Bronte Macaulay (WA) placed 3rd and 4th respectively.

The Pro Junior Men’s Championship Moves division finals are still to be run and with dropping swells organizers are looking to wrap up that division either later this evening or early tomorrow with the small swell getting even smaller!

Semi-finalists in the Championship Moves have been decided – Australia unless stated -

Semi 1 – Dean Bowen V Wade Carmichael

Semi 2 – Matt Lewis- Hewitt (NZ) V Jordan Watson
