Billabong ASP World Junior Championships is LIVE, Possible Champion Crowned Today

Granger Larsen (HAW), 20, will meet fellow Hawaiian Kiron Jabour (HAW), 20, in the opening Round 4 heat of the Billabong ASP World Junior Championships.


NORTH NARRABEEN, New South Wales/Australia (Wednesday, January 12, 2011) – The Billabong ASP World Junior Championships fueled by Monster Energy has kicked off Round 4 competition today in two-to-four foot (1 metre) waves at North Narrabeen and could potentially see the 2010 ASP World Junior Champion crowned by day’s end.

The Billabong ASP World Junior Championships represents the second and final stop on the inaugural ASP World Junior Tour, with the first stop on the series unfolding in Bali at the Oakley ASP World Pro Junior.

Yesterday’s competition saw the completion of Billabong ASP Women’s World Junior Championships which was won by South African dark-horse Bianca Buitendag (ZAF), 17, while Alizee Arnaud (FRA), 20, won the Overall ASP Women’s World Junior Title, making her the second French women to win the title in the last three years.

Men’s Round 3 was also run in its entirety yesterday, which saw the majority of the 2010 ASP World Junior title contenders win their heats to tighten the race on this year’s under-21 champion.

Today’s competition will Granger Larsen (HAW), 20, compete against fellow Hawaiian Kiron Jabour (HAW), 20, in the opening Round 4 heat and the 2010 Billabong ASP World Junior Champion could possibly be decided by as early as this afternoon.

The Billabong ASP World Junior Championships holds a waiting period from January 8 through 16, 2011 and will be webcast LIVE via http://www.billabongpro.com.
