LOS ANGELES, California (Sunday, February 27, 2011) – Carissa Moore (HAW), 18, started her 2011 ASP Women’s World Tour campaign in sharp form by taking a commanding Round 1 victory on the opening day of competition at the Roxy Pro Gold Coast presented by Land Rover. Moore, who earned the 2010 ASP Women’s Rookie of the Year award while finishing her education, now has her sights set on the elite ASP Women’s World Title and ESPN.com caught up with the talented Hawaiian to see what she has in store for Sophomore year among the Top 17. Carissa Moore finished last year’s tour in third place — not bad for a rookie who was finishing high school the whole time. With a year of experience under her belt, Moore heads into the 2011 season more focused and better prepared to try and challenge reining and four-time World Champion Stephanie Gilmore.
