HUNTINGTON BEACH, California / USA (Monday, May 2, 2011) – ASP World Tour campaigner Brett Simpson (USA), 26, current No. 13 on the men’s ASP World Title Race, has been forced to withdraw from the upcoming ASP PRIME Nike 6.0 Lowers Pro after sustaining a knee injury following the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach.

The Huntington Beach native traveled to Mexico in between events for a photo shoot with major sponsor Hurley and suffered a partially torn MCL caused by a bad fall which is expected to put Simpson out of competition anywhere from four-to-six weeks.

“I got home from Bells and went down to Mainland Mexico to get ready for Lowers and do a few shots for Hurley,” Simpson said. “I ended up taking off late and air dropped and my back foot slipped and I slightly tore my MCL. I look to be out about four to six weeks! I should be back just in time for South Africa.”
