Izuki Tanaka Crowned Malibu Amami Islands Pro Champion
TEBIRO KAIGAN,Omami Oshima/Japan (Sunday, May 15 th,2011) – The final day commenced today for 2011 ASP Japan Tour opening event, the men’s ASP 2-Star Malibu Amami Island Pro along with the $5,000 ASP Japan Pro Junior Series 1 Star Event Quiksilver King of Grommets at Tebiro Beach at Amami Oshima. The conditions at Tebiro Beach this morning was 1 to 2ft. (0.5 meters) with excellent weather.
This morning at 1st call at 06:00 ASP Japan Tour Manager Masao Ogawa monitored the conditions and sent the surfers out for the final day. Ogawa and his crew crowned 3 inaugural event champions 5:30PM this afternoon.
Winning the ASP 2-Star Malibu Amami Island Pro was Izuki Tanaka (JPN). Izuki collects 500 points for the ASP Men’s World Ranking and captures US$5,000for his effort. In second was defending ASP Japan Tour Champion Hideyoshi Tanaka (JPN). Equal 3rd goes to Kaito Ohashi (JPN) and Jun Shiba (JPN).
Winning the Quiksilver King of Grommets, an ASP 1-Star Pro Junior event, was defending ASP Pro Junior Series Champion Kaito Ohashi (JPN). Ohashi took 250 points for his goal to requalify for the elite ASP WJT and captures US$2,000 for his effort. In second was defending champion Arashi Kato (JPN). Equal 3rd goes to Kai Ojima (JPN) and Kan Watanabe (JPN).
Winning the Quiksilver King of Grommets Pro Cadet event was former ASP Pro Junior Series Champion Takumi Nakamura (JPN). In second was Riki Horikoshi (JPN). Equal 3rd goes to Masahiro Sekiguchi (JPN) and Keijiro Nishi (JPN).
