Roxy Pro Round 1 ON at La Cote des Basques in Biarritz
BIARRITZ, France (Tuesday, July 12, 2011) – The Roxy Pro, second-to-last stop on this year’s ASP Women’s World title race, is ON and webcast LIVE from the main venue of La Cote des Basques in Biarritz, with two-to-three foot (0.8 meter) waves on offer for Round 1.
As envisaged by event officials, the expected new swell has started pulsing today allowing for competition to kick-off and the six heats of Round 1 to run.
“There is definitely more energy today and the option to run Round 1 has been chosen along with the competitors,” ASP head judge Dave Shipley said. “We are looking at wrapping those six heats during the incoming tide and plan a bigger day tomorrow which promises to be more consistent.”
First out with the competition vest on will be ASP Elite Top 17 rookies Tyler Wright (AUS) and Courtney Conlogue (USA) up against long time experienced competitor Rebecca Woods (AUS).
