She had to come in because she tore one of her fins off her board – shredding so hard. Wonderful to see her as World Champion. Would be nice if we had more contest on the North Shore to showcase her talent as well as all the other up and comers like Coco Ho and friends.

it was over a decade ago & she was a tiny, unassuming little thing :)
her dad brought her out to cliffs at diamond head & she held onto his foot as he paddled her out to the breaks … i could hear her singing a Christmas song to herself although it was the middle of summer , just as happy as a kid could be ;)

and then i saw this little girl SURF. . .
how natural and fluid she moved !!! even back then, she exemplified maturity and grace well beyond her years .

some people are just MEANT to do certain things in life .
i was in my late 20′s at the time & had already been surfing for years & knew in the pit of my soul that even if i surfed every single day until the day i died – i would NEVER have attained the level of talent that this young child effortlessly exhibited…
i remember saying to myself that day -
“THAT LITTLE GIRL is gonna be a world champion one day…”

and so it is
as it was meant to be .

congratulations, Miss Carissa Moore :)
you are an unbelievable talent !!!
