Martinez should have chosen his words more carefully, but he’s right. The ASP needs to improve the way they approach contest formats ie. wildcards and who’s allowed to surf the event, where the events are held etc. Its just become so corporate and money driven that it’s losing it’s true identity.Which is the best surfers in the best waves, period. If the tour were the place to be Machado, Dorian,and guys like bruce irons would still be on it like Kelly. Instead they are having more fun surfing just cause they love it.The guy who just got barreled doesnt care about surf contest.
