How will be the seeds for the next event? Will it follow the rank above?

  3. dennis says:

Coitadinhos dos gringos acharam que seria ainda mais dificil dos brasileiros entrarem, e agora estão ai chorando!!!….3 American out, and 2 Brazilian in, Medina e pupo vão mostrar com quantas pauladas se faz um campeão hahahahahah

  4. Salazar says:

Bobby hope you read this. I am 43 years old live on the sand in Newport beach Ca surfing in my 4th contest next weekend. because of you I stopped riding Motorcross and began surfing. It took me 4 years to get up to surfing where now I am pretty good. You were my inspriation to get better at surfing and it worked. Take this year off spend time with your family and keep surfing. Next year get back on tour and step back into the ring of surfing, face it Bobby you are one of the top surfers in the world competeing with all the top guys. next time you express your mind change your chose of words bro. YOu have successful friends and they respect you for what you acomplish so see it in yourself to get back to surfing when your ready, Bobby your in your prime dont let time pass by.YOU WOULD HAVE WON CHOPS THIS YEAR FOR SURE THE WAVES WERE YOUR STYLE YOU KNOW HEEEAVVY.MISSED YOU THEIR BOBBY.
    Salazar.Late!

  5. Jos says:

Middle of the year is not time enough to upgrade/downgrade surfers.

  6. Gustavo Pedreira says:

    Hei guys!

Bobby is not entirely correct when he says that QS guys do not compete with the best surfers in the world. For example, Gabriel Medina has won 3 Six-Prime events on last 6 months. Tell me dream tour surfers that has not competed in a 6 prime event. Even Kelly Slater, Jordy Smith and all the others did. If you think that this kid will surf for his 1st time at the dream tour, you are wrong. He did surf Bells and Rio.
I would just give a wildcard to BOBBY MARTINEZ into the Trestles event, and hope that he would get MEDINA on the same heat. Than there would be retirement as option for him, because it would be embarassed for him.

  7. Bob says:

Dimelo…one world ranking holds your best results over the last 12 months, so Dane will start losing lots of ground in next few months as good results start dropping off.

  8. Wade says:

    Dimelo,
Dane’s sponsors aren’t paying anything to keep him on the tour. Look at the “ASP Men’s World Ranking” link above, under RANKINGS. He still has enough points from the second half of last year to stay in the top 32/34, results are good for a year. He finished 4th on the world tour in 2010. Even with missing the first half of the season, he still legitimately has a spot on the tour. He’s an exciting, dynamic surfer and many people, myself included, are eagerly awaiting his return.

  9. Rubes says:

So it looks like medina, yadin, pupou, and Freddy p and trav are sticking on from chopes with wildcards. But if yadin is injured John John will be in. In regards to bobbys point I agree with him to a point in that qs guys shouldn’t be ranked higher than those in the ct as they aren’t competing against the same caliber of surfers…. But I do think the top qs guys should replace the underperforming ct guys halfway but should go in ranked last or 26-32.. Anyone agree ?

  10. Dodge says:

can someone please explain why Dane reynolds is such a big deal ?

    • john.seminara says:

Because he totally rips and he surfs in comps the same as he free surfs he doesn’t give a s**t if he wins his heats or not which makes for some very exciting and dynamic surfing watch dane surf in the next comp and you will see him pulling of some of the most unreal surfing that you have seen in a comp .dane does moves that most guys on the tour wouldn’t even think of doing in comps because they are worried that they won’t get through their heat.seriously watch dane surf in the next comp and you will see what I mean.

    • Ed says:

Are you serious? Stick to watching golf buddy…..don’t ask those stupid questions here!

    • Base Burleigh Local says:

Raoni Monteiro is better than Dane Reynols…

  11. Pocketlint says:

I think Bobby is right about it, The new system is s**t, It makes the CT guys surf s**t QS events. The Ct surfers have already done their time on the QS and are glad to be off it. Why should Garbriel Medina be 16th when he hasn’t surfed a CT event before and how is Dane Reynolds 24th When he hasn’t competed in a competition this year? Why does the ASP need to have a two cut offs a year I think one is plenty

  12. Dimelo says:

Unbelievable! Dane Reynolds has not competed in any of the events; and yet, he still in the roster. Double standard? His sponsors must be paying the ASP lots of money to keep him on the roster. Injury? please, tell me a new one. Stop carrying dead weight.

  13. Chantelle (@ChantellesArt2) says:

CONGRATS 2 all who made the TOP 34!!!! WAY 2 GO :) )

  14. Peter Cameron says:

Can someone tell me who dropped out of the top 34 and who came on?

    • The Other Tim says:

      Out:
      Bobby Martinez
      CJ Hobgood
      Adam Melling
      Gabe Kling
(Corey Lopez – Was previously a wild card but surfed every event)

      In:
John John Florence – (Yadin Nicol relinquishing his place due to injury)
      Gabriel Medina
      Miguel Pupo
      Travis Logie

  15. Emily Beckett says:

I would love to see Dane Reynolds stay on the tour. Without him he would be greatly missed.

    Emily

    • Layback Larry says:

I would love to see Dane Reynolds stay on the tour. Without him he would be greatly missed.

      Emily

      I couldn’t agree more.

  16. Other Tim says:

Tim, Adam Melling is 34 on the One Ranking. The guys who are below him on the WCT ranking must have competed and done well in some ASP prime or six star ‘QS events to boost their One ranking above Adam. The points system takes in to account that the ‘QS events aren’t as high a quality and so a win in Prime event is only worth a 3rd in a WCT event. A win in a 6 star event is worth a little less than a loss in rnd 5 of a WCT event.

Bobby’s beef is that he’s ranked against guys he doesn’t surf against, but he had the option to surf in QS events and either didn’t take it or didn’t do very well.

    • Tim says:

Ahh I see now, thanks for explaining that. So now they are obliged to either dominate on the WCT or surf some of the WQS competitions. Well that sounds alright to me, as it gets some of the big names at the smaller events. Good for the sponsors putting up the cash and the fans in those places. Lets face it surfing 12 events a year is not much, probably less time for those great filming trips though. Still to be surfing for money is a good lifestyle, perhaps Bobby should stop complaining and check out how many people surf for nothing, and would love to go to the places he does.

  17. iron rene burgos says:

    me gusta el surf profesional.

    5. aloha

  18. Tim says:

Im confused, if Adam Melling is 22 on the ASP world rakings on this site after New York, how come he is now 2nd alternate, with guys who are below him still in the top 34. This just doesnt make any sense! Am I missing something? Matbe Bobby Martinez is onto something.

  19. Chris says:

While the one world rankings make sense, it doesn’t make sense that medina can hack it on the QS and be seeded 16th… Seems like he should have to earn his stripes.

  20. Nathan Lurie says:

Wow! So in my mind Alejo had the rookie of the year award locked up…but now you throw in Medina and Pupo? Will new guys like Medina qualify for the rookie of the year award or will it stay with the man who has remained on tour?!!!

  21. Matt OBrien says:

Pretty sure with Yadin injured & of water for few months, that John John will be in Trestles event (possibly more too!)? Because he is first alt. stoked for him, he will get low seed, BUT will put pressure on a higher seed for sure.

  22. Max says:

MEDINA WORLD CHAMPION WHEN KELLY S GONE

  23. socialfo says:

So with Yadin out with a lame leg, does this mean John John is going to be in all comps for the rest of the year? And if Dane continues to noshow, will Melling be in as well?

  24. Grant says:

where are Federer and Nadal??? I thought this was a tennis tour??

  25. Altoro says:

corect me if Im wrong but the only two names I can find that were bumped up were Gabriel Medina (BRA)and Miguel Pupo (BRA), and both those guys have been killing it and deserve to be their. Bobby you used to be one of my favorite surfers when your surfing did the talking but now I rarely see your surfing and all I hear are your complaints!

  26. Altoro says:

What is the big stink Bobby Martinez and all the other spoiled asp haters were making such a big deal about? All of the same players are in the top 34, its not like a bunch of guys who havent paid their dues are now seeded. Bobby needs to get a 9 to 5 job and not surf the best waves in the world, miss swells cuase ya got to work and then complain about how terible it is to be on the dream tour. Snapper, Bells, J-Bay, Chopes, Lowers, and all those other perfect waves with one or two other guys out??????????? put the crack pipe down Bobby and get back on tour before your to old!!!!!!!
