Lay Day for the Quiksilver Pro France.

LA GRAVIERE, Hossegor/France (Tuesday, October 4, 2011) – Event organizers have called a lay day today for the Quiksilver Pro France with only small one-to-two foot (0.5 metre) surf on offer at the primary venue of La Graviere.

Event No. 8 of 11 on the 2011 ASP World Title season, the Quiksilver Pro France recommences the thrilling battle for the ASP World Title amongst the world’s best surfers amidst the world-class beachbreaks of Southwestern France.

“As expected, we don’t have much on offer this morning and have called a lay day today,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge said. “We’re expecting an increase over the next several days and will reassess conditions for a possible start tomorrow morning.”

Event organizers will convene tomorrow morning at 7am to assess conditions for a possible 8am start.

When competition commences, up first will be Jeremy Flores (FRA), 23, Matt Wilkinson (AUS), 22, and Taylor Knox (USA), 40, in Heat 1 of Round 1.

    1. justin daniels says:

Yeh but if you dont have good web coverage where you are its a joke. I pay for pay tv and fuel to watch the tour and then i get served up with a stop and start low band broadcast which us infuriating.

I know we are doing better then 10 years ago when no surfing was on tv live but cmon quik and fuel just get it together and broadcast every comp on fuel and the web

    2. justin daniels says:

Just checked One hd are showing an hour highlights package at 11.30pm what a joke. If quiksilver think that this the the best way to promote the sport by selling it to one hd who show an hour hightlight package when the ab circle pro infomercials are on then what hope have we got

  2. Matt Brooks says:

    Hi guys,

I’ve been desparately trying to find out if One HD will be broadcasting the event live in Australia… Do you know???

Apparently they (Channel 10) bought the rights to all the Quiksilver comps this year. They showed the Snapper Rocks comp live in Feburary, but did not show any of the New York event last month…

I usually watch the ASP World Tour events on Fuel TV, but they havn’t got it on either.

    Cheers,

    Matt.

    1. Grahame says:

Just watch the stream from the event website

    2. admin says:

OneHD have the rights to broadcast the Quiksilver Pro France.

“One HD will also broadcast live the other two Quiksilver events – from France and New York – which will slot easily into the overnight schedule.”

    3. Leighton says:

      Admin,

That article was written in February, I’m pretty confident they didn’t show New York live and I’ll be surprised if they show France live. Happy to be proven wrong, would love to see it on free to air! Is there any recent news from OneHD on this?

    4. admin says:

Yep, I realise that the article was fairly old but I was just pointing out that OneHD do have the rights. I probably should have clarified that whether they choose to broadcast the event or not is entirely at their discretion, as we saw with New York. If anyone wants to be pro-active regarding the broadcast, you can always make your voice heard – http://one.com.au/contact-us.htm

    5. Leighton says:

      Done : )
