LA GRAVIERE, Hossegor/France (Friday, October 7, 2011) – Inclement winds have forced event organizers to call a lay day at the Quiksilver Pro France, but improved conditions are projected for the weekend.

Event No. 8 of 11 on the 2011 ASP World Title Series, the Quiksilver Pro France has completed Round 1 and the opening eight heats of Round 2 and will look to recommence as early as tomorrow.

“There’s plenty of swell in the water but we have about a 20 knot cross shore wind that’s cutting the lineup to pieces today,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge, said. “We’ve called competition off for the day and will be back tomorrow morning for a call at 8am.”

Event organizers will reconvene tomorrow morning at 8am to assess conditions for a possible 8:30am start.

When competition resumes, up first will be Raoni Monteiro (BRA), 29, and Miguel Pupo (BRA), 19, in Heat 9 of Round 2.

Highlights from the Quiksilver Pro France will be available via http://www.quiksilverlive.com
