COOLANGATTA, Queensland/Australia (Monday, October 17, 2011) – The ASP Women’s World Title season came to a close in July at the Nike US Open of Surfing. Despite finishing abruptly early this year, there were no shortage of highlights with tour sophomore Carissa Moore (HAW), 19, clinching her maiden ASP Women’s World Title. ASP are looking into an enhanced women’s schedule for 2012 (to be released in November), but in the interim, we’ll be checking in with the ladies of the ASP Top 17 to see how they’re spending their respective down time.

Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), 23, is a woman whom needs no introduction – four ASP Women’s World Titles and 18 elite tour victories all by the time she was 23 have vaulted her into a realm of celebrity the surfing world has rarely seen.

Hot of the heels of baring it all in ESPN’s ‘Body Issue’, the Gold Coast beauty scooped the field at the Australian Women’s Health Sports Woman of the Year Awards ahead of Torah Bright, Sam Stouser, Lauren Jackson and Alice Perry, nabbing the cover in the mean time.

A big congratulations go out to Steph and her recent accomplishments and we look forward to seeing her back in the singlet come 2012.
