Matt-Lewis Hewitt (NZL) will face off against Marco Fernandez (BRA) in Round 4.

ARPOADOR, Rio de Janeiro/Brasil (Monday, October 31, 2011) – With stormy conditions on offer at both the primary location of Arpoador and the backup site of Praia Do Diabo, event organizers at the inaugural Arnette ASP World Junior presented by Quiksilver have called competition off for the day.

Stop No. 2 of 3 on the 2011 ASP World Junior Tour, the Arnette ASP World Junior saw Leila Hurst (HAW) clinch the women’s Rio De Janeiro based event yesterday and has completed men’s competition through Round 3 and officials hope for more favorable conditions to recommence Round 4.

“We’ve got a really strong southwest wind and for Diabo (Praia Do Diabo), and it’s the wrong direction of swell,” Icaro Cavalheiro, Arnette ASP World Junior Head Judge said. “We expect that the swell will change to straight south for tomorrow with a better period and better wind. I hope that we can finish the contest tomorrow.”

Event organizers will reconvene tomorrow morning at 7am local time for a possible 7:30 start. The Arnette ASP World Junior presented by Quiksilver holds a waiting period from October 24 through November 2, 2011 and is webcast LIVE via www.brasilopenofsurfing.com .br
