OCEAN BEACH, San Francicso/California (Wednesday, November 2, 2011) – The Rip Curl Pro Search San Francisco is back ON this morning in clean two-to-four foot (1 metre) surf and will complete Round 2 with Round 3 on standby.
The Rip Curl Pro Search San Francisco began competition yesterday, the opening day of the waiting period, and saw Kelly Slater (USA), 39, move one step closer to clinching his 11th ASP World Title by taking his Round 1 heat victory. Should Slater compete in his Round 3 heat today and win, he will secure the 2011 ASP World Title.
“We’ve got some swell running and nice conditions to continue on with Round 2 today,” Richie Porta, ASP International Head Judge said. “We’ll look to wrap up Round 2 today and will likely move on to Round 3 this afternoon.”
Kicking off today’s Rip Curl Pro Search action will be Bede Durbidge (AUS), 28, against Dane Reynolds (USA), 26, in Heat 5 of Round 2.
The Rip Curl Pro Search San Francisco is Stop No. 10 of 11 on the 2011 ASP World Title Series with a waiting period from November 1-12. The 2011 Pro Search will be broadcast live on Fuel TV, Livestream.com and live.ripcurl.com
Surfline, official forecasters for the Rip Curl Pro Search San Francisco, are calling for solid northwest ground and windswell mix along with generally favorable wind conditions to hold throughout the day while the end of the week and into the following weekend (3rd-6th) will see more swell, but also variable and, at times, strong onshore wind.
