Rip Curl Pro Search San Francisco Back ON, Rounds 4 and 5 on Standby

OCEAN BEACH, San Francisco/California (Sunday, November 6, 2011) – Rip Curl Pro Search San Francisco competition is back on this morning with improving three-to-four foot (1 metre) waves on offer at Ocean Beach and today’s proceeding are expected to complete Round 3 with Rounds 4 and 5 on standby.

Stop No. 10 of 11 on the men’s ASP World Title Race, the Rip Curl Pro Search San Francisco launched in to action in idyllic beachbreak conditions on the first two days of the waiting period to complete Rounds 1, 2 and the first 10 heats of Round 3 before three consecutive lay days.

“We went on hold for two hours this morning and conditions are steadily improving,” Richie Porta, ASP International Head Judge said. “We’ll pick back up with heat 11 of Round 3 and put Round 4 on standby.”

When competition begins Josh Kerr (AUS), 27, will face off against Tiago Pires (PRT), 31, in Heat 11 of Round 3.

The Rip Curl Pro Search San Francisco is Stop No. 10 of 11 on the 2011 ASP World Title Series and holds a waiting period from November 1-12. The 2011 Pro Search will be broadcast live on Fuel TV, Livestream.com and live.ripcurl.com

Surfline, official forecasters for the Rip Curl Pro Search, are expecting new NW groundswell will begin to rebuild the surf throughout the afternoon on Sunday and will be strongest Monday. Smaller, but very contestable, leftovers prevail Tuesday. Onshore flow will continue Sunday, with lighter and more favorable early next week, especially Tuesday. Unstable weather and wind prevails for the last few days of the waiting period with an area of low pressure directly off the coast.
