Carissa Moore (Oahu, Haw) (pictured) earned her place into the Reef Hawaiian Pro at Haleiwa this morning when she won the surf off heat against five local girls with an impressive 15.50 heat total (out of a possible 20.00).
Showing no signs of slowing down Moore snatched another impressive heat win in round 1, defeating Lee-Ann Curren (Fra), Bethany Hamilton (Kauai,Haw), Suelen Naraisa (Bra), Mizuki Hagiwara (Jap) and Francisca Santos (Prt). Mooreâs impressive two-wave heat total of 16.00 (out of 20.00) included a near perfect 9-point ride (out of 10.00).
The $170,000 Reef Hawaiian Pro is a men’s and women’s 6-star rated ASP World Qualifying Series event is the first of three stops in the Vans Triple Crown and will feature over 200 of the world’s top-ranked surfers. The defending Menâs and Womenâs Champions are ASP World No. 28 Roy Powers (Oahu, Haw) and ASP World No. 14 Megan Abubo (Oahu, Haw).
