The Billabong World Junior Championships Are Back On

Mateia Hiquily (PYF) was a standout performer yesterday, eliminating Creed McTaggart (AUS) in Round 2. PIC: ASP/Dunbar.

BURLEIGH HEADS, Queensland/Australia (Tuesday, 24 January, 2012) – The rain is pouring, the wind is howling and the Billabong World Junior Championships are on because the waves keep on rolling in. The seas are stormy, but there’s 3 foot of swell at Burleigh Heads this morning and contest organisers have decided to make the most of it.

“It’s stormy out there, but it’s bigger and there are some clean sections on offer,” Contest Director Luke Egan said. “We’re going to finish Round 2 of the Men’s event, and then make a call to see if we go into Round 3 of the Men’s or the Women’s.”

The Billabong World Junior Championships Gold Coast will be webcast live via www.billabongpro.com
