SNAPPER ROCKS, Queensland/Australia (Saturday, February 25, 2012) – Pulsing three-to-four foot (1 metre) swell is filling in at Snapper Rocks today ushering in the start of the 2012 ASP Women’s World Championship Tour season with the Roxy Pro Gold Coast presented by Land Rover commencing at 7:30am.

Event No. 1 of 7 on the 2012 ASP Women’s World Championship Tour season, the Roxy Pro Gold Coast will feature the world’s best female surfers including reigning ASP Women’s World Champion Carissa Moore (HAW), 19, four-time ASP Women’s World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), 24, winner of last week’s ASP 6-Star Australian Open of Surfing Sally Fitzgibbons (AUS), 21, and a host of others.

“The swell has filled in this morning and there are some good waves coming through from behind the rock,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge, said. “It’s about three-to-four foot with cross-shore winds and we expect conditions to improve throughout the day as the tide drops. Women’s Round 1 will start at 7:30am with Round 1 and the opening round of men’s competition on standby.”

Up first this morning will be Silvana Lima (BRA), 27, Courtney Conlogue (USA), 19, and Malia Manuel (HAW), 18, in the opening heat of competition.

The Roxy Pro Gold Coast will be LIVE via http://quiksilverlive.com/progoldcoast/2012
