SNAPPER ROCKS, Queensland/Australia (Saturday, March 3, 2012) – After analyzing conditions throughout the day, event organizers eventually called a lay day for both the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro Gold Coast presented by Land Rover, opting to wait until the swell fills in further before recommencing competition.

The opening stop of the 2012 ASP World Championship Tour season, the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro Gold Coast enjoyed incredible action throughout the first four days of the waiting period, narrowing the fields down to the men’s Quarterfinalists and women’s Semifinalists, and will recommence competition when conditions improve.

“The wind has swung back Southerly and cleaned conditions up significantly,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge, said. “However, we haven’t had the swell fill in properly yet so competition is off for the day. We expect to get a start tomorrow with the potential to finish both the men’s and women’s event.”

Event organizers will reconvene at 6:30am tomorrow to assess conditions for a possible 7:30am start.
