DEE WHY, Sydney NSW/AUS (Friday, April 20, 2012) – The 2012 Commonwealth Bank Beachley Classic is back on at Sydney’s Dee Why beach today. The stormy conditions that we’ve seen over the past few days are starting to clean up, with clean six foot (2 meter) surf on the beach and the point.

Stop No. 4 of 7 on the 2012 ASP Women’s World Championship Tour, the Commonwealth Bank Beachley Classic run by seven-time ASP Women’s World Champion Layne Beachley is one of the most exciting stops on tour, with the world’s best female surfers competing in Australia’s biggest city.

“The direction of the swell has gone a little more east,” Beachley said. “That’s favourable for Dee Why point and the beach break. We’ve got an increase in swell of a couple of feet, I’d say it’s six-to-seven feet. There’s a lot of water moving which is really challenging for the girls and they’ll have to decide where they surf, either the beach or the point. We’re powering through and Round 2 and 3, with Round 4 on hold and the possibility of running the Nikon Expression Session.”

The event will be webcasted live via www.beachleyclassic.com

REMAINING COMMONWEALTH BANK BEACHLEY CLASSIC ROUND 2 MATCH-UPS:

HEAT 4: Paige Hareb (NZL) vs. Justine Dupont (FRA)
HEAT 5: Sofia Mulanovich (PER) vs. Jacqueline Silva (BRA)
HEAT 6: Sarah Mason (NZL) vs. Rebecca Woods (AUS)
