BARRA DA TIJUCA, Rio de Janeiro/Brazil (Sunday, May 13, 2012) – The Billabong Women’s Rio Pro, stop No. 5 of 7 on the ASP Women’s World Championship Tour, will recommence in building one-to-three foot (.5 metre) waves at 10:30am local time and will crown a 2012 women’s champion by day’s end. No men’s competition will be held today.

The Billabong Women’s Rio Pro has seen this year’s event run the opening rounds at the iconic Brazilian lefthander of Arpoador before returning to the primary venue of Barra da Tijuca to decide the event’s Semifinalists.

“A new swell is slowly filling in and with today being the last day of the women’s waiting period we’ll crown a champion today,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge said. “Best of luck to our remaining competitors.”

Up first this morning will be Oahu natives Alessa Quizon (HAW), 18, and Coco Ho (HAW), 21, in the opening Billabong Women’s Rio Pro Semifinals Heat.
