Saquarema is great when it works, but it is very condition-sensitive. It only breaks that good with southeast swells. It means that a south swell in Itauna becomes a poor choice. By the way,Rio accepts many direction possibilities, so it is a safer place if you consider the risks of a short window.
When Saquarema is firing, so is Arpoador, despite not with the same high class waves, but surely firing.
I love Saquarema and have spent some of my best days of surf there, so I know what i am saying.

Coisa: correct me if I’m wrong, but I think William is saying the WT contest should have been held HERE (in Saquerema), not in stupid Rio. That’s what I wish, because the waves for the contest today were PUMPING, at least before the wind got on it. I’m sure the top WT guys would have killed for those waves over shitty ass Rio.

I didn’t receive the images the entire day of competition just the announciators. and after 10 am local brazilian time i finally found the webcasting on the espn site. and there was a note, informing that transmition was directly from quiksilver’s site. so i didn’t understand if the problem was on my pc or if the webcasting was down for everyone. fantastic waves on the event. this place should be the event site for the brazilian stop of the wct, or fernando de noronha at november

There is no reason why the wct is in the city with crappy waves, and the prime is held 100km north in one of the best waves of the continent.
The wt should be held there, at ITAÙNA, not in rio.
