CLOUDBREAK, Tavarua/Fiji (Wednesday, June 6, 2012) – Event organizers have called Volcom Fiji Pro competition off for the day with only small surf on offer at the primary venue of Cloudbreak.

Event No. 4 of 10 on the 2012 ASP World Championship Tour, the Volcom Fiji Pro enjoyed two full days of competition at the start of the window and will look to resume as soon as conditions improve.

“As projected, there’s not a lot on offer this morning and we’ve called competition off for the day,” Matt Wilson, Volcom Fiji Pro Event Director, said. “Swell models still look very promising for Friday and Saturday and we’ll be back tomorrow morning to further assess the situation.”

Surfline, official forecasters for the Volcom Fiji Pro, are calling for a very significant, long period South-southwest swell to move in on Friday the 8th.

Event organizers will reconvene tomorrow morning at 6:30am to assess conditions for a possible 8:30am start.

When competition resumes, up first will be Bede Durbidge (AUS), 29, up against Adam Melling (AUS), 27, in Heat 11 of Round 2.

Highlights from the Volcom Fiji Pro will be available via www.volcom.com/fijipro

The free surfs are good because of acceptable swell and no “strategy”. I’m sure Damo is happy since he got to skip Round 2 this time. I’m looking forward to some results from my favorites.
