Perfect Surf Forecast for Opening Day of Billabong Pro J Bay

[ 7 ] July 9, 2012 |

JEFFREYS BAY, South Africa (Monday, July 9, 2012) - Big and perfect surf has been predicted for the opening day of the Billabong Pro J-Bay 2012, and is set to continue through the first three days of competition. The swell has already arrived in Jeffreys Bay, and the surfers in town are having great practice sessions as six-foot lines pour down the famous Supertubes point.

According to renowned South African swell forecaster Spike from Wavescape, the best is yet to come.

“Tuesday is a world class day of sublime pointbreak bombs,” said Spike of the expected surf. “We can expect ten-foot lines marching in early on Tuesday in lovely light westerly offshore winds, with the swell easing to six to eight-foot in glassy seas during the day.”

This evening sees the pre-event media function take place at the Billabong headquarters in Jeffreys Bay. Jordy Smith, Sean Holmes, John John Florence, Jack Freestone and Mikey February will be in attendance, and there will be interview opportunities for gathered media.

I guess the ASP people won’t see this message or be bother with it if they do, but how did you bump Jbay from the WCT and kept Brazil? Please have a good look at the waves on offer. And it’s like that year after year.

the Mr Price Pro webcast was a horrible joke,
reminded me of the old 56k modem days, actually those were better than last weeks dissapointing attempt at a live webcast.
hopefully we can get a better result this time round

Unfortunately Billabong have decided not to webcast Jbay for the first day of competition. Apparently they will try to have the webcast up and running tomorrow for Day 2 of competition.

No live webcast? Brazil over J-bay? sad….
