HUNTINGTON BEACH, California/USA (Wednesday, August 1, 2012) – The Women’s Nike US Open of Surfing, the final stop on the ASP Women’s WCT, is back on today in clean one-to-two foot (.5 metre) waves and today’s proceedings are set to see the completion of Round 2 and the no-losers Round 3.
With the ASP Women’s World Title culminating in France, the focus at the Nike US Open of Surfing turns to women’s qualification campaigns, as a top finish at the Huntington Beach event will be vital for several surfers looking to remain amongst the ASP Top 17 for 2013.
“We’ve got some contestable little waves and we’re going to get back with the women’s event today,” Dave Shipley, ASP Women’s WCT Head Judge said. “We’ll run both women’s Round 2 and 3 and then return to men’s competition to cap off the day.
Paige Hareb (NZL), 22, will take on fellow New Zealander Sarah Mason (NZL), 17, in the opening Round 2 heat.
Following women’s competition will be the final six heats of Men’s ASP Prime Round 2.
