It's a good idea in principle but with a couple of caveats. When someone is talking the background music is cheap and annoying. It sends a signal that the show has little substance and is cheap hype.

No offense to the speaker but he doesn't come off as genuine. Marty Thomas has a character better suited for the part, IMHO.

Poor choice of name for the feature and poor choice on your anchorman; otherwise, it's a relatively well executed idea. It's just too bad that interest in pro surfing waned slightly after Fantasy Surfing ruined their website and their forum. Someday, someone in the surf media will figure out that satisfying their core fanbase means catering to their core fans and not pandering to Johnny Come Lately. 'Csuse seriously, folks, Johnny Come Lately is the opposite of O'neill's old ad campaign (FILO--first in, last out). Johnny Come Lately is LIFO--last in, first out. In other words, he might give a damn here and there--like when Slater & Dane roll into his burrough of Long Island, NY--but where is he when Dan Ross is surfing against Kieran Perrow at the Bells Bowl? He doesn't care, but your core fanbase does. True surf fans are not your biggest surf consumers. Your targets dont adhere to our skin, or our boards for that matter. Remember that. Please. Thank you.
