LOWER TRESTLES, San Clemente/California (Tuesday, September 18, 2012) – Competition for the Hurley Pro at Trestles has been called off for today, with small two foot (.5 metre) waves on offer at the iconic California pointbreak this morning.
Stop No. 6 of 10 on the ASP WCT, the Hurley Pro at Trestles saw amazing performances through Rounds 1 and 2 and with a new swell expected to deliver in the coming days, event officials have decided to wait for the improved conditions to resume competition.
“The swell we had yesterday has tapered off and we have a new one on the way so we’ve decided to call competition off for today,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge said. “We should see signs of that new swell soon and will check back tomorrow morning to reassess conditions.”
Surfline, official forecasters for the Hurley Pro at Trestles, are calling for:
Solid south swell to build in and be strongest Wed/Thur, with a building trend in the afternoon on Tuesday and an easing trend Friday. Fun size SW swell is on track for the weekend. Conditions through Friday will be favorable with light morning wind and light to moderate onshore flow in the afternoons.
The Hurley Pro at Trestles holds a waiting period from September 16 through 22, 2012 and is webcast LIVE at www.hurley.com/hurleypro.
