CANGGU, Bali/Indonesia (Saturday, October 6, 2012) – The 2012 Oakley ASP World Junior Championships Bali have been called on at Echo Beach, Canggu this morning. The day began with a Balinese blessing ceremony, with all competitors dressed in traditional attire on the black sand beach with clean and crisp 3 to 4 foot (1.5 meter) waves breaking on the reef out the front.

Glen Elliot and Beau Emerton Oakley ASP World Junior Championships Head Judge and Contest Director have made the call to start the men’s Round 1 at 9:15am local time.

“The tide is coming up and the surf is starting to turn on,” Elliot said. “There’s a mix of rights and lefts on offer and we’re expecting the surf to be good all day. We’re hoping to run the whole of the men’s Round 1, but we will assess the conditions as the day rolls on.”

The Oakley ASP World Junior Championships Bali will run from October 6 – 17. For LIVE webcast, event videos and more check www.oakleyprojunior.com.
