RIYUE BAY, Wanning/Hainan Island/China (Wednesday, January 30, 2012) – The event champion will be crowned today at the ASP 4-Star rated Hainan Classic at Riyue Bay, Hainan Island, China. The surf is in the two foot (1 meter) range, with shapely long rides on offer. The winner will receive 1000 ASP World Tour ranking’s points, as well as US$15,000 prize-money, so expect to see a hard fought finals day full of action packed match-ups.

Dane Jordan, ASP Australasia General Manager is looking forward to crowning the 2013 Hainan Classic champion today, and is thrilled to see wide variety of international surfers left in the draw from Australia, Portugal, Peru, Indonesia and Brazil.

“I’m expecting today to be an exciting finals day,” Jordan said. “We’ve got a really diverse bunch of surfers left in the draw and anyone of them can win this event. The surf is slightly smaller today, but from the Quarterfinals on it’s man-on-man heats which will help the surfers to be able to catch more waves.”
