RAINBOW BAY, Queensland/Australia (Wednesday, March 6, 2013) – Event organizers have placed the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast presented by Land Rover ON HOLD this morning until Noon with the potential to start as early as 12:30pm.

Event No. 1 of 10 on the 2013 ASP World Championship Tour (WCT), the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast opened up yesterday with some electrifying performances and will commence the elimination Round 2 when competition resumes.

“Still some good surf on this morning and better projected for the remainder of the day,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge, said. “We’re going to go on hold this morning to let the tide sort itself out and we’ll make another call at noon. We’ll likely see the men’s Round 2 this afternoon but will monitor conditions throughout the morning before making the next call.”

When competition resumes, up first will be reigning ASP World Champion Joel Parkinson against event wildcard Brent Dorrington (AUS) in the opening heat of Round 2.

Event organizers will reconvene at Noon to assess conditions for a possible 12:30pm start.

The Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast presented by Land Rover will be webcast LIVE via quiksilverlive.com
