MARGARET RIVER, WA/Australia (Wednesday, March 20, 2013) - There are signs of the new swell starting to arrive at the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro today, but not enough to get competition underway yet. Contest officials have made the call to put competition on hold and come back and re-assess condition at 12 noon.

Stop No. 2 of 8 on the ASP Women’s World Championship Tour, the 2013 Drug Aware Margaret River Pro plays a vital role in deciding this year’s ASP Women’s World Champion.

The Drug Aware Margaret River Pro is also the first men’s ASP PRIME rated event for the 2013 season, offering maximum points towards 2014 ASP World Championship Tour qualification campaigns.

“There’s a lot of wind and weather but not much swell yet,” ASP Australasia General Manager Dane Jordan said. “We know the new swell is going to start arriving today, so hopefully when we come back at midday there’s some surf and we can get the competition back on.”

A call will be made at 12pm for a possible 12:30pm start to either men’s or women’s divisions tomorrow.
