JOAQUINA BEACH, Florianopolis/BRA (Saturday, November 2, 2013) - The final day of the Men’s and Women’s HD World Junior Championships presented by Devassa has been called ON starting at 8am local time in clean three-to-five (1.5 metre) waves at Joaquina Beach and will crown new ASP World Junior Champions by this afternoon.
Throughout the event’s history, the ASP World Junior Championships has been claimed by some of surfing’s finest talent including Joel Parkinson (AUS), 32, Jordy Smith (ZAF), 26, Adriano de Souza (BRA), 26, Sally Fitzgibbons (AUS), 22, and Pauline Ado (FRA), 22. In addition to the prestigious title, a standout result at the HD World Junior Championships in 2013 will secure a position in all premier qualifying events for 2014.
“The conditions we have right now are going to be the best of the waiting period and we plan to finish the event today,” Luli Pereira, ASP World Junior Championships Head Judge said. “Best of luck to our remaining competitors.”
Up first this morning will be Tatiana Weston-Webb (HAW), 17, against Frankie Harrer (USA), 15, in Women’s Quarterfinal No. 1.
